Intense Tornado Footage (REMAKE)
This is a remake of bingbong's "Intense Tornado Footage" iceberg from 2022. It was my favorite on the site up until I left, but since the site's now shut down and the only archive we really have is Internet Archive screenshots, I've decided to do the research and try to remake the iceberg. The only thing missing is entry descriptions. Don't suggest anything to add here, this is a faithful remake and nothing else.
Original description:
Organized by the intensity of the footage itself, not by the strength of the tornado. There are some tiers which have EF5 tornadoes mixed with EF2s or lower, just because of how crazy the video is. The levels themselves I've ranked as EF1, EF2, etc, again they're not indicative of the contents of each level, it's just an iceberg chart and the levels need a ranking.
A small note, you will notice inconsistencies with the ratings of the tornadoes - some of them are F2, F4, etc, while others are EF2, EF4, etc. This is because the USA and Canada have recently adopted the Enhanced Fujita Scale (in 2007 and 2013 respectively), and that's why older entries remain as such. Other countries have not adopted this system as of this writing. The Fujita Scale is the system used to measure the power of a tornado - FO is the weakest and least destructive, F5 is the highest and catastrophically destructive. You can read more about the Fujita Scale and Enhanced Fujita
Scale here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fujita_scale
This iceberg was a massive effort on my part and represents months of on-and-off work. I'd estimate that just over 60 hours was spent just writing and editing the entry descriptions, let alone the research on the tornadoes themselves, tedious searching for videos all over the internet, and fine-tuning the iceberg. I couldn't have done it without the incredible support and collaborative efforts from the /r/tornado and /r/weather subreddits. Many thanks to Reddit users Far_Paleontologist_7, Mississippi_Matt, and Missthing303 for their many contributions to this list, along with the following Reddit users: AchokingVictim, gunsandhorses94, I_Am_Dwight_Snoot, JulieHoolieHoo, mavaction, mcarpbear, ncain78, shamwowshapchop, SolidEmployee776, Timtim6201, Treyception, Waterdreamwarm, and Zakery92. I'd also like to thank Liam and ApocalypseMoose from this site for their proposals as well. Thanks so much everyone!
