Paraphillias are categorized as intense sexual attraction to something considered atypical. These are not queer identities, and some of which are labeled as mental illnesses because of the nature of their attraction. There are differences between a paraphilia and a paraphelic disorder. This is ranked on obscurity. Most paraphilias are not harmful attraction, but the ones you most commonly hear about are illegal. People who suffer from paraphelic disorders need help and intervention, not validation. My source for some of these is the DSM-5 diagnostic manual for diagnosing mental illness, this is the most up to date version of the manual. A lot of these are not harmful, and therefore have not been seen in a clinical setting and may be hypothetical. Because of this site´s policies, there are paraphilias I cannot add than involve attraction to children or fetishization of certian groups.
