Very WIP.
If an entry doesn't have a description right now, it will in the future. Looking for suggestions.
I am pretty picky about what goes on here, so if I reject your suggestion, please don't take it as an insult :')

Generally Forgotten - Dedicated Researchers Might Know These
This category covers disasters which remain largely obscure outside of a specific niche. Seasoned researchers of a topic may see these disasters as common knowledge, while most have likely never heard of them.
SNAP-9A accident (1964)
Beaune coach crash (1982)
Okeechobee hurricane (1928)
Only Obscure Because of Language Barrier
Often times when a disaster occurs in a region outside of the scope of Western media, it's up to native media to properly report on and document these events. Because of this, events in non-English speaking countries will often go largely forgotten to those around the world.
Region Locked Disasters
Typically occurring in third world countries, these events are only obscure because of where they happened. Although they may be well remembered and memorialized by the locals, or even well known within the country in which they happened, the rest of the world leaves these disasters to the past.
This could be because the events occurred in too isolated of a place to be properly documented, nobody had the means of getting their stories out to the world, or simply because the Western World doesn't care to bat an eye to what happens in these corners of the planet.
Maguindanao massacre (2009)
Overshadowed By Other News
These disasters were quickly forgotten about because of other events around the world. Reporting on a disaster doesn't even have to be entirely drowned out by a larger event, but sometimes even the aftermath and investigations into a disaster being overshadowed can lead to it rapidly fading from collective memory.
Severely Underreported
Aki shooting (1975)
Hornalan massacre (2008)
Lost to the Sands of Time
Eitai Bridge collapse (1807)
Roopkund avalanches (800 & 1800)
Most Likely/Confirmed Hoaxes
This category contains entries which are either almost certainly fabrications, or outright confirmed hoaxes.
These could be urban legends and tales more than a century old, newspaper articles made to stir up talk during a time when media professionalism wasn't taken seriously, or just some fun internet lore someone posted to 4chan to mess with people and start new conspiracy theories.
